House Of Cards actress Kate Mara celebrated her 31st birthday on Thursday by revealing that she hasn’t actually watched the television series that has made her name.
The second season of the Netflix series premiered on February 14, but it appears as though Mara has just been way too busy to sit down and actually watch the critically acclaimed drama.
When asked about the show, Mara told In Touch at the Maybelline New York and The Daily Front Row Fashion and Hollywood Luncheon, “I’m not done yet. I haven’t seen the whole season.”
Mara admitted that she had made plans to do so on Valentine’s Day but that she found herself too famished to actually go through the rigmarole of watching it. “I thought I was going to bing on the first two days, but on Valentine’s Day, I was so tired I only got to episode 5, so now I’m on episode 7,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Kate also revealed that she asked her younger sister, Rooney Mara, for advice before she accepted her part on the show. Rooney had worked under director David Fincher on both The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and she clearly only had good things to say about the filmmaker because Kate ended up taking the role.
“I ask my sister for advice if I’m ever questioning whether to take a job,” Kate told Zap2it. “I called her for advice on Fincher when I first started working with him. It’s such a special thing to have a family member doing the same job as you. She didn’t start acting until much later, but it makes me feel sort of looked-after, having her and knowing that she ‘gets’ it.”
However, she has previously stated that there were several more reasons why she took the part, noting , “I was just thrilled to be working with David Fincher and the cast. You know, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are two people that I’ve always wanted to work with. The expectation of it doing well and that sort of thing was just the cherry on top. It could have failed miserably, and sure that would be disappointing, but the experience of working with those people and the challenge of that is really why I got involved.”
Mara ‘s cinematic stock is set to rise even higher after it was confirmed last week that she will play the Invisible Woman/Sue Storm in John Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, alongside Miles Teller, Jamie Bell and Michael B Jordan.
