Ariana Grande has a very unexpected duet lurking just around the corner.
Fans learned about the Sam & Cat star’s possible collaboration with Chris Brown through a series of recent posts on Twitter. As the buzz about the possible duet reached a fever pitch, the singer’s manager essentially confirmed the project with a tweet of his own.
But let’s back things up for a second. The rumors started when Chris Brown posted a lyric from a song on his Twitter feed. Before long, Ariana Grande followed up with a response. This prompted fans to ask Grande if something was brewing in the recording studio.
“I dug a single seed into the ground, I hope it grows,” Brown wrote.
Ariana responded, “In a year or two if you’re around, you’ll see a rose.”
When asked if the these were lyrics from a song she liked, Grande responded with something a little surprising. She wrote, “A song you haven’t heard that is coming out in March.”
Although Ariana Grande’s response to the curious fan could mean just about anything, manager Scooter Braun essentially confirmed the collaboration with a post on Saturday.
“That was an amazing session. Excited for this incredible duet on the way,” he wrote on Twitter. It sounds like fans of Grande and Brown have something interesting looming on the musical horizon.
It’s no secret that Ariana Grande is working on a new record. Although it’s unclear where the track will end up, there’s a possibility it could find its way on the singer’s latest record. Unfortunately, solid details about the project are still few and far between.
Grande previously told MTV News that she’s working with a slew of producers on her sophomore album. Although a few people who helped out with her debut are returning to the boards, she’s working with some fresh faces to give the project a different sound.
“Well, I’ve been working a lot with the producers that I did my last album with Harmony Samuels and Babyface and The Rascals and Tommy Brown. But, I’ve also been working with new producers like Max Martin; he’s amazing. I love working with him,” Grande explained.
She continued, “He’s like a mathematician. He knows music like math. It just makes sense to him. And, Savan [Kotecha] and Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder. I’m so excited. I’m very excited too.”
