If you are thinking about impressing that special someone this Valentine’s Day, your best bet could be to make your own chocolate covered strawberries and it’s so easy.
One of the most popular gifts for women and men alike in any occasion, you can make these as simply or as fancy as you want with very few, relatively inexpensive ingredients.
Of course you need good quality, ripe strawberries — that may be more of a challenge to find this time of year than anything else — and some excellent chocolate of any kind.
Depending on whether that special someone likes the dark, milk or white variety, you can create a masterpiece and impress your loved one with beautiful chocolate covered strawberries.
Good quality chocolate — about eight ounces — is also important to make the perfect treat, semisweet is the most common chocolate used to make the scrumptious delicacy, but you can definitely choose any kind that special person likes and even mix and match with different kinds.
You will also need some parchment paper once the strawberries are coated with the chocolate.
Make sure you thoroughly wash about one pound of red juicy strawberries and let them dry completely, otherwise it will ruin the consistency of the chocolate.
Some like to leave the whole stems in, cut the stem or just leave the flowery part of it. That is up to you.
The classic way to melt chocolate is by doing it in a double boiler, but the microwave works just fine if you do it in 30 second increments, being careful not to over cook the chocolate.
Once the chocolate starts melting mix it with a spoon each time after 30 seconds only until it’s just melted, it should have a smooth, creamy consistency when you let it drip from the spoon.
