Lady Gaga Wants To Spread A Message Of Love Through Outer Space

Lady Gaga is taking a message of love into outer space in 2015.

The “Applause” singer will take her shtick beyond the Earth’s atmosphere as part of the three-day music festival known as the Zero G Colony. After attending the event at Spaceport America, Lady Gaga will blast off aboard Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic .

While she’s hanging around in outer space, the singer will spread a message of love to whoever and whatever is tuning into her frequency during her performance.

Lady Gaga said in a recent statement:

“I honestly can’t wait [to perform in space]. I can’t wait to design the performance. I’m auctioning off my second seat [on a Virgin Galactic flight] to raise money for the Born This Way Foundation. I want to make a moment that is about much more than me. Performing in space is such an honor. I want to challenge myself to come up with something that will not only bring everyone together but will also have a message of love that blasts into the beyond.”

If you’d like to take your own trip into outer space, then you can snag a ticket aboard the Virgin Galactic. However, you’d better have plenty of scratch in your bank account; a seat on the flight will run you upwards of $250,000.

Of course, Lady Gaga isn’t the only singer who wants to venture into the far reaches of outer space. The Inquisitr previously reported that Sarah Brightman booked passage to the International Space Station (ISS) not too long ago. According to reports, the singer received clearance at the Cosmonaut Training Center near Moscow.

Brightman said that her fascination with space began at an early age:

“I was very lucky and privileged to be living in that time to see that actually happen on a black-and-white TV screen and it changed many of us. I don’t think there’s been anything to date that was like that… You look at Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon,’ even if there was nothing specific about space, the fact that it was called what it was and the feeling of the music was definitely inspired. David Bowie. It goes on and on.”

Barenaked Ladies singer Ed Robertson also joined the ranks of outer space musicians, though he did his work from the ground. The songwriter teamed up with astronaut Chris Hadfield for the tune “I.S.S (Is Somebody Singing)” last year, a collaboration that found Robertson in Toronto and Hadfield on the International Space Station.

“It’s a natural, easy collaboration. I think science and music share a sense of wonder, and a sense of reaching and striving for something. And I think there’s an awful lot of parallels between the two that could be further explored,” Robertson explained.
