Fran Drescher, best known for her role in the Nanny and her incredibly annoying voice says she wants to replace Hilary Clinton in the Senate.
She says she’s qualified. Who knew that yelling “Ohh Mr Sheffield” in a nasal twang was a qualification. The New York Magazine quotes Fran Drescher as saying “I’ve just been given the appointment of U.S. diplomat.” “My title is public diplomacy envoy for women’s health issues, and I just got back from a four-country European tour of duty. I believe next I’ll be sent to the Middle East.”
Sent to the middle east? That would have been handy during the Bush administration.
Drescher in the interviewed showed that she is a political animal
“I’ve been very successful in getting a bill passed in Washington,” she said. “I was thinking I’d take the next four years to lay some groundwork, but I’m throwing my hat in the ring.” What else makes her a good candidate? “I’m an authentic and honest person,” she said. “And I think Capitol Hill needs more of that.”
Those are sound bites if I ever heard them. I can see the reality TV show now. Nanny Fine goes to Washington. Heaven help us. Although it may be worth it just to hear her yell “ooh President Obama!”
