Justin Bieber left Panama for Los Angeles yesterday on a flight with his manager Scooter Braun, after they were joined by Usher, other friends – and his new gal pal, Chantel Jeffries – for a crisis summit, possibly an intervention, following the singer’s suspected DUI arrest in Miami last week.
As yet there’s no word on whether Bieber agreed to rehab or therapy or some other option, but it’s likely these were discussed.
E! News reports Bieber is “Doing OK right now” amid intense media focus, with a source adding:
“He’s with friends and family. That’s what is most important now, being surrounded by family and his closest friends.”
The statement comes after Universal Music Group boss, Lucien Grainge , who outed the young singer out of necessity, opened up to The News Confidenti@l at the label’s after-Grammy show.
“I’m very concerned about him. I’ve been concerned about him for many months… This has nothing to do with the business or records or releases – this is to do with the young man,” Grainge said.
“He needs help. He needs an intervention,” he added, raising a strong possibility Panama was the setting for an intervention.
And it seems the “ Baby ” superstar might not be returning to his Calabasas home.
According to X17.com – whose shutterbugs snapped the unsurprising move – moving trucks were spotted hauling the 19-year-old’s belongings out of his The Oaks home early last week before his Miami DUI bust. The website did not add where the trucks were headed.
The photos appear to shore up a recent TMZ report claiming Bieber wants out of the quiet, upper-class gated community, after he was accused of egging his neighbor’s house and his home was raided by Los Angeles investigators on January 14 in search of possible evidence to connect him to the incident – not to mention a number of previous neighbor disputes.
E! News reports Bieber’s reps didn’t comment on moving rumors, while the outlet noted the $6.5 million home isn’t listed on the market.
That said, the moving trucks photos tell their own story. It appears the singer may have moved out, or be in the process of moving out, of his Calabasas home before formal sale.
Bieber’s four-day Panama pow wow with Usher, Braun, childhood friend Ryan Butler, and other pals, followed his just after 4 am arrest in Miami Beach on January 23 for allegedly driving under the influence during what police reported as an illegal street drag race. Other driver, Khalil Amir Sharieff, who drove a red Ferrari was also arrested for suspected DUI.
The Canadian blew 0.011 and 0.014 in two Breathalyzer tests performed at a police station, which is under Florida’s 0.02 limit for under 21’s. In addition to a failed field sobriety test, police said the star admitted to drinking one beer, using marijuana and taking prescription pills earlier on Thursday.
TMZ report Sharieff’s blood alcohol level came up as zero . However, CNN notes lab results from other tests will come through over the next few weeks and will determine whether Bieber and Sharieff were high on other substances.
In addition, TMZ reports GPS tracking in both luxury cars indicated that at the time of the so-called drag race Bieber and Sharieff were within the zone’s 30 mph limit, although they did exceed it briefly before the police stop.
Bieber has a February 14 arraignment court date in Miami, Florida, where he — or lawyer Roy Black, if he doesn’t appear – will enter a plea when prosecutors file formal charges of DUI, resisting arrest without violence, and driving with an expired license.
Meanwhile, the egging case proceeds.
After reviewing Bieber’s seized security video system, a prosecutor has asked the Sheriff’s department to investigation further before a decision on whether to charge the pop star with felony vandalism is made, lead detective Lt. David Thompson told CNN .
Detectives are said to be “tightening up the case.”
In a trio of tweets sent from his Panama to Los Angeles bound flight, Justin announced his new video for Journals cut “Confident ” will debut today.
