Could Beyonce and Jay Z open up the 2014 Grammys ceremony? If you believe the rumors that’s exactly what can happen on Sunday night. Even though Beyonce isn’t nominated because her super secret album missed the cut off date, her husband is the most celebrated artist of the ceremony, as he snagged nine nominations for his album Magna Carta Holy Grail .
Since Beyonce isn’t nominated but probably wants to celebrate the night with her husband Jay Z it’s rumored that they will be able to show off their greatest collaboration at the awards ceremony. Hits Daily Double reports that the Hov and Bey will be performing “Drunk in Love” off of Beyonce’s self-titled album.
The selection of “Drunk in Love” isn’t too surprising, because it’s the only current song Jay Z shares a verse on with Bey. The only thing that might surprise Grammy viewers are the very explicit lyrics from the song, as Beyonce describes their sex life. The song is just one of few that the artist expresses her sensuality on.
Of the new side she’s letting people see on her new album, Beyonce said :
“I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body. I was 195 pounds when I gave birth. I lost 65 pounds. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body! I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back. I don’t have any shame about being sexual. I’m not embarrassed about it. And I don’t feel like I have to protect that side of me.”
If Beyonce does perform at the Grammys, this wouldn’t be the first time the singer was able to get a coveted role in the Grammy lineup. Beyonce joined Tina Turner for a fantastic rendition of “Proud Mary” in 2008. As far as her track record, Beyonce seems to be on point with being the first female to win six Grammys in one year. Currently Beyonce has a total of fourteen Grammy awards on her shelf.
Acts who are confirmed to perform at Sunday’s ceremony include Billie Joe Armstrong and Miranda Lambert, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder, Hunter Hayes, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Juicy J, Kacey Musgraves, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Madonna, Metallica and Lang Lang, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Blake Shelton, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Robin Thicke and Chicago, Taylor Swift and more.
