Dave Batista’s RAW return was heralded with him throwing down the gauntlet and declaring he’ll take back the title of WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , some critics declared that Batista fell on his face with the way his WWE return was handled , claiming it was a “mistake” made by a “metrosexual fashionista.” (Not my words, trust me…)
The title for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was just held not too long ago by John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, and Alberto Del Rio. Throughout 2013 the belt was passed around among those three, with Del Rio holding it twice before losing it to Cena in a Hell In The Cell match.
But at this time, Randy Orton is the current title holder as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for winning a tables, ladders, and chairs match. He also owned the WWE Championship belt, thus unifying the two titles into one.
So when Dave Batista returned, it made sense for him to go straight for the jugular by first confronting Randy Orton. It’s then that he declared war by saying he’ll win the Royal Rumble and be WWE World Heavyweight Champion once again by winning at WrestleMania 30 . (Hey, maybe they could have him go a round with other returnees like Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, and Brock Lesnar just for kicks.)
So where do Dave Batista’s World Heavyweight Champion aspirations currently stand? He made a good start on Monday Night RAW by flooring Alberto Del Rio with a Batista Bomb. Of course, Mexico’s Greatest Import had just been tired out by a fight with Rey Mysterio, so perhaps that’s not fair to say. Otherwise, he managed to insult Randy Orton by refusing to shake his hand, but the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion took out his frustrations by beating John Cena’s father, who was watching from the crowd.
Do you think Dave Batista’s RAW return signals a beginning for a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
