Amy Poehler made history at the 2014 Golden Globes, becoming the first presenter to also win the award for her performance in Parks And Recreation .
Not a bad night’s work for the 42-year-old actress, who seemed genuinely surprised by the win and had not prepared an acceptance speech.
As any nominee knows, you should always have an acceptance speech ready, just in case. Amy Poehler didn’t, but she had sufficient control of her memory to be able to come up with something that made sense.
And it’s not a surprise — she was after all hosting the event with Tina Fey.
While the nominees for Best Actress in a Television Series Comedy or Musical was being announced, Amy Poehler got a “massage” from none other than Bono, and was seen making out with the U2 frontman. She showed everyone she’s only human; she got the wrap-up music played by the orchestra as her ramblings ended up taking too long.
For Amy Poehler to have her moment in the sun, so to speak, she had to first battle some heavy weights to win it all.
Her fellow nominees were Zooey Deschanel ( New Girl ), Lena Dunham ( Girls ), Edie Falco ( Nurse Jackie ), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus ( Veep ).

Wearing an elegant, but not flashy Stella McCartney gown, her hair down, and not overly heavy make-up, Amy Poehler looked very comfortable in her role as Golden Globes host, alongside Tina Fey.
Even though these were the 71st Golden Globes, the ceremony hasn’t always been televised, so there have not been too many chances for an oddity such as a host winning a Golden Globe to take place.
The closest opportunity for a host to win a Golden Globe came when Louis Gossett Jr . presented the year after he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film for his performance in The Josephine Baker Story .
