Burger King recently took its quest for world domination to Sri Lanka.
The fast food chain clearly wants to take some of the market dominance away from McDonald’s. To make that happen, BK is slowly but surely moving into a handful of new territories. India and France were previously announced as the Whopper’s latest targets.
People in Sri Lanka now have a chance to snatch up some of Burger King’s offerings. The company recently announced that it opened three locations in the country towards the tail end of 2013. Rajagiriya, Mount Lavinia, and Colpetty now have restaurants at their disposal.
Softlogic Restaurants will serve as the master franchisee for the new BK locations. According to BK AsiaPac Pte. president Elias Diaz Sese, Softlogic is the right company to lead the charge in Sri Lanka.
“We believe that Softlogic has the business knowledge to build a strong brand presence in this market and we look forward to offering the same flame-grilled flavor guests know and love at Burger King restaurants,” Elias Diaz Sese recently explained.
Softlogic Holdings PLC Chairman Ashok Pathirage said the company will work closely with Burger King over the next few months to develop its supply chain throughout Sri Lanka. If everything goes according to their master plan, more restaurants could pop up throughout the country during 2014.
Pathirage added:
“We are immensely excited to partner with the Burger King brand, a globally recognized restaurant chain throughout the world. We have already seen tremendous interest generated among locals with anticipation of the restaurant openings and are pleased to offer these loyal customers that same flame-grilled flavor they know and love from Burger King restaurants.”
It’s evident that the fast food chain is very committed to making as much money as humanly possible over the next 12 months. In addition to expanding its presence around the world, the company recently revamped its value menu to offer pricier items to hungry customers.
Dubbed King Deals, the menu includes affordable items starting at one dollar . Spicy sandwiches and a burger stuffed with onion rings and barbecue sauce are currently among the things patrons have to choose from at the moment.
Burger King’s North American marketing chief Eric Hirschhorn said that customers have responded exceptionally well to the company’s value menu in the past. They hope that King Deals will continue to appeal to those hungry folks who coughed up cash in the past.
“We want to continue creating great-tasting products that don’t sacrifice on taste,” he said.
What do you think about Burger King expanding its presence across the planet? Do you think the company can dethrone McDonald’s as the world’f favorite fast food joint?
