Carl Edwards has added a big time victory to his NASCAR resume. He won the annual Sprint Showdown, an annual All Star race, and he collected over one million dollars for the win. All in all it was a great night for Carl as he won three of the four race segments and came home first at the end for the million dollar purse. Don’t worry about the damage to his car that came post race as he tried to slide his way through the front stretch grass.

The was an event dominated by Roush Fenway Racing. Carl’s teammate David Ragan won the Sprint Showdown. That is the race where the first two finishers qualify for the Showdown. The All Star race is a field of cars who have won a race over the previous NASCAR year and all former winners of the event are allowed to compete. So Carl went out and beat the best of the best. His other teammate Greg Biffle won the first segment of the race meaning Roush Fenway swept the All Star weekend.

For car owner Jack Roush it was his fifth win as a team owner. Mark Martin (twice), Matt Kenseth, and Jeff Burton have all previously won the event driving cars fielded by the Cat in the Hat. 2011 was the sixth time Carl had run in the event and his previous best finish was fourth way back in 2006.
