A new iOS7 jailbreak utility has been released by a team of hackers at evasiOn, the same team that gave the world the iOS6 jailbreak.
The Mac and Windows utilities were released Sunday by evasi0n and are compatible with iOS7 devices in version 7.0 through 7.0.4.
For those who aren’t tech savvy, the jailbreak allows users to hack into their iPad, iPod, and iPhone devices so they can install apps that aren’t offered in the Apple Store. The only drawback is that the action isn’t exactly supported by Apple, so if there is a hiccup during the process users won’t be able to turn to Apple for help.
To use the iOS7 jailbreak, evasi0n warns users to have a full, unencrypted backup of their device. The full instructions for the jailbreak are listed at the evasi0n website .
The evasi0n team warned of some possible difficulties with the iOS7 jailbreak on their site, noting:
- Warning! Over The Air updates of iOS 7 are known to create an issue and make the jailbreak fail. Some devices are then stuck on the Apple Boot Logo. Until we fix that, please restore your device to 7.0.4. with iTunes first.
- Warning! Many Cydia tweaks are not yet compatible with iOS 7. Please always backup your phone before installing new tweaks from Cydia as your iPhone could be stuck in the boot process. The situation will improve as developers will update their software.
For those who are unsure of how to pull off the iOS7 jailbreak or don’t know exactly what they’re doing, evasi0n and other computer experts recommend that iPhone and iPad users forget about it and leave the process to more experienced techies.
