The Lord Of The Ring star Sir Christopher Lee , who plays Saruman in the trilogy, may be 91, but he still can rock on, as proven by his new Christmas song “Jingle Hell.”
On the heels of the successful release of the second installment of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug this past weekend, comes this new single just in time for Christmas.
In case you are wondering, the song is a new take on the American classic tune “Jingle Bells’, which The Lord Of The Rings star has made his own.
Lee is no stranger to the music scene and has previously released two LPs inspired by the life of Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne.
“Jingle Hell” featured the deep baritone voice of Saruman of The Lord Of The Rings with a heavy-metal guitar. The song is available for purchase on iTunes.
Sir Christopher acknowledges the video is a bit naughty, so be warned it may be NSFW, in case you decided to click play.
With an unmistakable voice, Lee has voiced countless films, and because of his severe look, played the villain from the beginning of his career.
In Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, he portrays Saruman, the major antagonist created by J.R.R. Tolkien, even though his dream was to play the Wizard, Gandalf.
However, Lee realized that he was too old for the part that required the actor to ride horseback and do other physically demanding activities. The role ultimately went to another iconic British star, Sir Ian McKellen.
Christopher Lee recorded several opera and musical pieces between 1986 and 1998, and the symphonic metal album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross in 2010 after having worked with several metal bands since 2005.
On May 27, 2013, The Lord Of The Rings Wizard released the heavy metal follow-up, Charlemagne: The Omens of Death .
In case you are wondering, side B of “Jingle Hell” is a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” (Warning: NSFW language)
