Miranda Barbour and her husband of just three weeks, Elytte Barbour, are accused of luring Troy LaFerrara to his death. The couple met their victim on Craigslist and allegedly murdered him for fun.

LaFerrara, aged 42, made contact with the couple who posted messages online. Due to their financial difficulties they arranged for men to meet Miranda for “conversations” for a fee of up to $850

The couple confessed to the murder, admitting that they had been trying to meet someone via Craigslist to kill together as a thrill.

Sunbury Police Chief Steve Mazzeo told reporters: “He tells us that they intended to kill somebody together. They tried to kill other individuals and failed. And this happened to be one that worked.”

Having made contact with LaFerrara the couple picked him up in their car, with Miranda driving and Elytte hiding under a blanket in the back seat.

After driving to Sunbury Miranda suddenly produced a knife a repeatedly stabbed the victim who was being restrained by Elytte with a cable cord around his neck .

The victim was found dumped in the backyard of a home, having been stabbed at least 20 times and strangled. The body was discovered by Brittany Settler who lived in the house: “I was making myself a cup of coffee and when I opened the fridge to get the creamer out. I looked out and was like, ‘What is that?’”

After dumping the body, the newly married couple stopped at a local Wal-Mart and purchased garbage bags, carpet cleaner, paper towels and seat covers to clean up the blood and hide the evidence in their vehicle.

Allegedly following the Craigslist thrill killing the couple attended a strip club to celebrate Elytte’s 22nd birthday.

The murder was the talk of the town in Sunbury. John Mickey, a resident who lives near to where the murder took place, said: “I just really feel sorry for (his wife). She’s a nice woman. We have always thought a lot of her. Just really, my heart goes out to her.”

The police records showed that the couple had committed the killing because: “The defendant stated that they committed the murder because they just wanted to murder someone together.”

It remains to be seen what punishment the Barbours will receive for their heinous crimes as the police investigation continues ahead of court proceedings and trial.
