The Xbox 360 Game of the Year for 2013 was a very similar battle to that of the PlayStation 3. Some titles might have made the top three if our opinions were counted, but we decided to go with the numbers from Metacritic scores instead. We took the critic ratings, added them to the user ratings (multiplying those by ten), and then calculated the average. The scores given are out of 100.
The results this time around almost mirrored Spike’s VGX 2013 Awards as we determined what Xbox 360 game would come out on top. If you’re interested to see what title won on PlayStation 3, click here .
The Inquisitr ‘s Xbox 360 Game of the Year 2013 winners are:
Third Place goes to Rayman Legends (average score: 85.5). Ubisoft managed to make a platforming game with an almost volleyball-style multiplayer mode one of the best games for Microsoft’s last generation console this year. This game was a surprising win due to it being the latest in a series of side-scrolling platforming games, a genre which doesn’t usually make it into Game of the Year lists.
Second Place goes to BioShock Infinite (average score: 89). Once again, Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth find themselves on top of the gaming world, almost literally. Caught in the middle of a city-wide battle between the elitist Founders and the rebellious Vox Populi, the two find themselves at the center of what is considered one of gaming’s biggest plot twists. This detective story is one you’re not likely to forget, even if the story is a little tricky to understand.
First Place goes to Grand Theft Auto V (average score: 89.5). Sandbox gaming might never have existed had it not been for Grand Theft Auto III , the very first game to make doing what you want in a 3D rendered city an accepted style of gameplay. Trevor, Michael, and Franklin are old buddies drawn back into the game after realizing they wanted something different out of life. They are all in it for different reasons, but either way, it’s fun. Multiplayer missions are also available for GTA 5 gamers who want to share in their ill-gotten gains.
Games we would have expected to come out on top were Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag , Batman: Arkham Origins , and Battlefield 4 . Edward Kenway wowed us on the PlayStation 4, so it could have been the lower graphical prowess that kept Assassin’s Creed 4 down. Batman and Battlefield both launched with some severe glitches, but neither had the notoriety of the most anticipated game in years.
The Inquisitr ‘s Xbox 360 Game of the Year 2013 award goes to Grand Theft Auto 5 , Metacritic ‘s highest rated Xbox 360 game for 2013. Click here to see the winner for Nintendo’s consoles.
