Justin Bieber Tells Crash Fan Kate O’Neill ‘How Special Are You?’ At Private Show [Video]

Justin Bieber gets a lot of heat for mostly teenage antics, but he also gives back in a major way to others. Australian car crash survivor and fan Kate O’Neill would certainly agree, after the teen star performed a special VEVO acoustic show dedicated to her.

More details about the concert, Kate’s reactions, and what Justin said and did can now be seen in a video shared by the good folk over at Hot Hits and VEVO. But first, a brief recap.

Melbourne teen Kate , 19, saved close to $3,000 over 18 months for tickets to every single Believe tour show in Australia. But, just weeks ago she suffered multiple injuries including four broken ribs, a fractured spine in three places, internal bleeding and lacerations to her kidney and liver when a car she was a passenger in crashed into a tree at 100 km./h.

On that fateful night, the one thing that kept Kate conscious before an emergency team arrived at the scene was talking to her friend for around 40 minutes about Bieber, the Herald Sun reports.

Obviously, Bieber’s concerts were out of the window. But, while a devastated Kate began her slow recovery in hospital, her buddies at the Melbourne Bieber Team which Kate co-heads, launched a Twitter campaign (#JustinVisitKate), in the hopes the superstar would hear O’Neill’s story.

Bieber heard it just fine and he responded in a way Kate couldn’t have imagined. After a few days of Twitter hints from the singer and his manager Scooter Braun, the Canadian tweeted Kate on Wenesday, December 4 with a simple “hi (sic),” setting off a total Belieber meltdown online.

Fast forward to Kate who talks in the video about the acoustic private performance .

“It was all a surprise,” O’Neill recalls, who says that after Braun called her a few days ago she had no idea anything was going down until the day itself.

Kate reveals she was taken in a taxi to a “secret location” on Wednesday.

Once there, she saw a mix of her family, work friends, fan buddies and school pals, who had been bussed to the location. None of them knew what was to come.

In the video, you get to see the reaction of Kate and everyone else when they are told that Justin will be performing for them.

A visibly emotional Kate describes the moment: “I didn’t expect to see him perform at all so when I found out that he was going to be performing,” her voice catches slightly in the clip.

“I was just, like, I lost it. I just started crying and all my friends started hugging me. Oh my god, it was so crazy, I just can’t believe it!,” she added.

Bieber dedicated the entire concert to Kate, serenaded and made her his “One Less Lonely Girl,” told her he loved her and offered encouragement, according to O’Neill’s Twitter .

Near the start of the show, just after Justin and the Believe tour musical director and guitarist Dan Kanter walk on stage, Bieber turned to the wheelchair-seated guest of honor and said,

“Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, how special are you?”

Take a look at the video above and consider this. We’ve all read the stories this year, the real and the demonstrably fictitious , but here’s another take on the conversation:

Bieber isn’t Bambi, this we know. But he’s not Charles Manson either. The 19-year-old did something amazing for Kate O’Neill and he’s been doing great work around the world — for years .

Check out Justin’s extensive outreach efforts, also here and here , for the balance.
