Justin Bieber, his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, and Beyonce topped most searched person choices in different countries in 2013, according to trend patterns in 12 countries collated by Microsoft search engine Bing.
Teen idol Bieber reigned in the UK as the most searched for person. However, in the US Beyonce ruled, while Gomez took the crown in Germany.
These results are part of Bing’s worldwide lists which includes most searched movies, sports stars, sports teams, soap operas, phrases and terms, new stories, social media and streaming sites.
Justin, who ranked as number two in the US in 2012 dropped back to number six in the States this year.
Meanwhile, Bey who didn’t rank in the US Top Ten last year now pushes new mother Kim Kardashian into the number two position previously occupied by Bieber.
These new trends reflect upswings and downswings in the activities of a particular person, thing or category.

Not just in terms of media coverage that echoed his breakout year back in 2009-2010, but also for generating phenomenally bad press after months of incidents, allegations, rumors — some, which were unfounded — and controversial behavior.
Add in the 19-year-old’s $155 million grossing Believe world tour , a surge in interest in the state of his relationship with Gomez, new music releases, and forthcoming concert-movie Believe, and it all accumulates search engine buzz.
Likewise for Beyonce, 32, the mother of one soars to the top of the US the list in a year where she strategized her return to the limelight after stepping away to have her first child, daughter Blue Ivy.
The Houston native was chosen to perform the US National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January (which triggered “Lip-Sync Gate” ). She also delivered a scorching halftime show at the Super Bowl in February, released a fly-on-the-wall HBO documentary focused on her private life with her husband Jay Z, before launching a hugely successful worldwide tour, The Mrs. Carter Show in April.
Beyonce also scored the most-searched musician name.
Kardashian, 33, only drops one place from 2012 to number two on the US most searched person, as she also created headlines after giving birth to her daughter North West with rapper-designer, rapper Kanye West, the father of the child.
The rest of the US list saw women dominate the top five positions. Rihanna punched in at number five, followed by singers Taylor Swift and Madonna.
As previously mentioned, Bieber took the number six slot, with rapper Nicki Minaj, Amanda Bynes, singer Miley Cyrus (who topped searches in Australia and Canada), and President Barack Obama making up the Top Ten.
The most searched news story went to the birth of Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s first child Prince George Windsor in July. The next, a considerably less joyous event, the Boston Marathon bombings in April.
The most searched social media site turned was Facebook with online video streaming site Netflix taking the laurels for the most-searched streaming sites.
