Chris Brown has been allowed to skip a court date in Washington, D.C. by the Judge in the case against him. But it’s not for the reasons you may think.
Brown, who would have to travel from Los Angeles to Washington to attend the court hearing is facing misdemeanor assault charges.
Washington D.C. Superior Judge Robert Tignor agreed on Friday to let Chris Brown skip his scheduled court appearance on Monday, according to The Huffington Post .
The misdemeanor charges stem from a confrontation in which the R&B singer and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy were arrested, after allegedly punching a man, who tried to photobomb a picture that was being taken by the singer, in the face.
A judge ordered Chris Brown enter anger management rehab last week, after his Los Angeles court appearance.
The Washington, D.C. court system demands that a defendant attend every court hearing related to their case, even in the case of misdemeanor charges.
However, the California court system that ordered Chris Brown enter rehab for anger management, stipulates that he stay under treatment for 90 days or else risk violating his probation.
Brown’s top notch attorney Mark Geragos was able to argue the conflict to Judge Tignor and now he doesn’t have to leave his treatment.
As reported by The Inquisitr last week, Chris Brown was sent to a 90-day rehab program , while doing a follow up of his brutal assault of then girlfriend and pop singer Rihanna.
At the time, it was reported that the troubled singer had another confrontation, according to the probations department, which reported it to the Judge in the case.
TMZ reported that Chris Brown went into a violent rampage while attending rehab in Malibu and was thrown out of the facility.
Originally, it was reported that Brown had left of his own will, but apparently that was not so.
The Judge ordered the rehab take place in Los Angeles county and needs to be approved by his probation officer.
It was believed that the new instructions of entering the 90-day rehab program and flying to Washington, D.C. for his appointed court appearances would not exclude each other and the singer would be able to do both.
Now, Mark Geragos has gotten the Judge in D.C. to agree to let Chris Brown skip his court appearance in Washington.
Could it be that Chris Brown’s celebrity status and the fact that he has a high-power attorney is the reason behind the deal?
