George Zimmerman’s bond has been set at $9,000 after he was arrested Monday after allegedly pointing a shotgun at his girlfriend. The Inquisitr reported Monday that Zimmerman was arrested and booked by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in Florida on Monday after police say he pointed the shotgun at his girlfriend during an argument. The police report says the two were fighting when Zimmerman used a shotgun to break a table and then pointed it at girlfriend Samantha Scheibe .
Zimmerman appeared in court Tuesday as the judge explained that there is probable cause in his case, and then continued on to explain the conditions of his release. According to ABC News , a Florida judge not only set Zimmerman’s bond at $9,000 but also ordered that he surrender all of his guns in order to get out of jail. Zimmerman must also wear an electronic monitoring device, and he has been told he may have no contact with Scheibe.
According to a state attorney, Samantha Scheibe, said that there has been earlier domestic violence attacks, the latest taking place a week-and-a-half ago in which a choking took place. Scheibe also said that Zimmerman has threatened to commit suicide, saying he “had nothing to lose.”
“She is in fear for her safety,” the state attorney said of the victim, according to ABC News. The victim asked for “no contact and no return.” Jeff Dowdy , chief of Seminole County Public Defender’s Office, is Zimmerman’s new attorney, according to CNN . The report continued on to say that Dowdy believes that Zimmerman will post bail by Wednesday, and at that time will “regroup and try to address the charges. He’s maintained his innocence, I’ll tell you that,” Dowdy said.
Zimmerman is now facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and the lesser charges of battery domestic violence and criminal mischief. According to ABC News , his arraignment will be January 7, 2014.
