Ghostbusters 3 could begin filming in Cleveland early next year.
After years of being kicked around the gutters of Hollywood, it would appear that the long-awaited third installment of the beloved franchise is finally headed to the big screen. If recent reports are accurate, then the movie could start shooting in Ohio this spring.
The folks at WKYC , an NBC affiliate based in Cleveland, recently said the city will soon see a number of projects filmed in and around the area. This apparently includes Ghostbusters 3 , though no one from Columbia Pictures has confirmed the rumor as of this writing.
“More movie projects are on the way. One being the sequel to ‘Ghostbusters’ as Sony has penciled in spring 2014 date to start shooting the third installment here in Cleveland,” the outlet explained.
According to Cleveland Scene , Captain America: The Winter Soldier was filmed in city over the summer. The website also states that the Katherine Heigl flick Jenny’s Wedding is shooting there as well.
Is Ghostbusters 3 finally moving forward after years of rumors, reports, and speculation? Since we don’t have anything official to pour over at the moment, all of this could be just another baseless piece of info designed to get our hopes up. If so, then shame on you.
However, this isn’t the first chunk of Ghostbusters -related reporting to hit the internet in recent days. The Inquisitr explained earlier this week that Jonah Hill and Emma Stone are both in talks for a role in the long-awaited sequel. Again, Columbia Pictures and Sony have confirmed nothing so far.
Rumor has it that the sequel finds Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis passing the proverbial torch to a younger generation of folks who simply aren’t afraid of any ghosts. As far as the plot is concerned, Aykroyd described the script as follows:
“It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University… Basically, there’s research being done that I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width and time, become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters — new Ghostbusters — have to come and solve the problem.”
Unfortunately for long-time fans of the franchise, it’s unclear when the studio hopes to have the new motion picture up and running. If the movie wraps production in 2014, then it’s possible we could get the flick sometime in 2015.
What do you think about Ghostbusters 3 possibly filming in Cleveland next spring?
