Marilyn Manson shed his iconic makeup for a cameo appearance in Eastbound and Down . Although his appearance was brief, fans had a chance to see Manson in his natural state. In the 20 second segment, the gothic rocker portrayed a roller skating restaurant waiter.
Apparently Eastbound and Down is one of Manson’s favorite programs. As reported by ABC News , actor Danny McBride was surprised to learn the rock star is a fan of the show:
“It was pretty insane… For some reason, I don’t imagine Marilyn Manson sitting on a couch watching TV. I picture him hanging out in a torture chamber or something. We were definitely flattered and creeped out and felt great that he liked the show.”
As a serious fan, Manson reportedly spent years securing a cameo on the program. Eastbound and Down chronicles the antics of a former major league baseball player turned gym teacher. The HBO comedy series stars Kenny Powers, Stevie Janowski, and April Buchanon. The program is currently airing its fourth season.
Marilyn Manson was born Brian Hugh Warner in Canton, Ohio. He spent years attending a private Christian school before he rebelled and was expelled for his behavior . He continued his education at a public high school.
Following his graduation, Manson and his family relocated to southern Florida. After a short career as a music journalist, Manson formed his first band in 1989. His stage name combines the first name of Marilyn Monroe with the last name of serial killer Charles Manson.
As reported by Rolling Stone , Marilyn Manson created his iconic look with inspiration from Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne , and images from graphic novels.
The gothic rocker is rarely seen without his signature black clothing, tousled hair, icy blue contact lens, and several layers of makeup.
Marilyn Manson’s toned-down appearance in Eastbound and Down was different, but definitely not bad.
