Jaimie Alexander already has a big role in the latest superhero movie, Thor: The Dark World , but she may have an even bigger one on the horizon.
Speculation is rising that Alexander may be portraying Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman . The rumors started after a recent panel discussion in which Jaimie Alexander revealed that she had been in contact with Warner Bros. and Marvel regarding some upcoming superhero roles.
The immediate thought among many was that Alexander could be wanted to play Wonder Woman opposite Batman and Superman.
“I gotta say, Marvel really writes their women very well. And that’s one of the biggest things for me, when I look at playing a character I want to make sure that I’m playing the character first and the physicality is second, and Marvel understands that,” Alexander told Forbes reporter Mark Hughes. “They’ve done a tremendous job, especially in our film, of portraying women as strong and confident. And a side note is that, you know what? They’re pretty, they’re beautiful, inside and out. And that’s just a secondary. So they’ve really set the bar very high.”
Jaimie Alexander added that she would love to see Wonder Woman portrayed in film one day, but only “if it’s done with class.” She didn’t add any more on whether she would be interested in the role, leaving fans to only speculate.
Alexander would seem a good fit for the part of Wonder Woman. She has built her resume as an action star by playing warrior goddess Sif in the Thor sequel, and she bears a striking resemblance to the traditional Wonder Woman character, made famous on the television screen by actress Linda Carter.
Jaimie has been taking on a larger stature in Hollywood thanks to her role in Thor: The Dark World . Prior to that, she was best known for her role in the ABC Family drama Kyle XY , a show which also helped launch the career of Cory Monteith.
The actress gained headlines on the set of the Thor sequel last year when she tweeted that she suffered a serious injury .
“Today I sustained a pretty horrible injury,” Alexander wrote on Twittrer. “I’m lucky I’m not paralyzed. Thank you (with all of my heart) to those who’ve looked after me.”
If Jaimie Alexander does play Wonder Woman, fans can see her in the release of Batman vs. Superman in summer 2015.
