North Dakota Mom Gives Fat Shaming Note On Halloween In Lieu Of Candy

One North Dakota mom proves grinches exist on Halloween as well as Christmas, as it appears she invented the trick or treat “bah humbug” with a cruel and stingy note to pass out instead of candy to children she believes are fat.

While the North Dakota Halloween hater hasn’t been named, her scathing note to chubby kids with the audacity to approach her door on October 31st is making national headlines.

She could have just made a dinner reservation, or even turned off the lights and gone to bed. Instead, she wrote up a hateful little message to parents — one that kids, chubby and thin alike, could see and be bummed out by thanks to one sanctimonious mom. (Or, as we prefer to say, “sanctimommy.”)

The nastygram begins like many bits of unwelcome critique — in a false and soon to be abandoned veneer of kindness and support. It reads:

“Happy Halloween and Happy Holidays Neighbor!… You are probably wondering why your child has this note; have you ever heard the saying ‘It takes a village to raise a child?’ I am disappointed in ‘the village’ of Fargo Moorhead, West Fargo.”

Hear that parents? This random one lady thinks you suck at parenting and your fat kid is a nuisance. She continues:

“[Your] child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season… My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits.”

Of course, the cruel adult-on-kid bullying ends with:

“Thank you.”

Ugh, anyone who thinks kids don’t get to be nearly scared enough of monsters at Halloween anymore just needs to check out this one in North Dakota, and her awful, awful black heart. Could you imagine being a kid who already is self-conscious about your weight and getting this note in your bag after you looked forward to Halloween for who knows how long?

Not to mind the fact lots of kids will see it before their parents have a chance to check the candy — or may even read it right away given the fact the letter is being dispensed instead of candy and is an unusual and unexpected thing.

Truly mind-blowing — assuming this lady isn’t trolling kids and parents and just being the worst ever, North Dakota psychologist Dr. Katie Gordon says it isn’t just mean, it’s stupid… and potentially damaging :

“It’s just that kind of thing that for some kids, if they’re vulnerable, might trigger major problems… Even if a child is overweight, they might be very healthy because of what they eat and how they exercise. It’s ineffective anyway because it’s not likely to help the kid.”

Like most bullies , the North Dakota mom — who would only give her first name, Cheryl — claims she is ruining kids’ Halloweens for their own benefit, of course, and not to get an ego boost by feeling superior to little kids:

“Well really, I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight. It’s just, these kids, I can see them and they’re struggling to stay healthy and they want to play with the other kids, and I think it’s really irresponsible for parents to send them out looking for free candy just because all the other kids are doing it.”

Okay. So basically she resents feeling obligated to buy candy and is projecting her annoyance onto children.

What do you think of the North Dakota mom’s Halloween nastygram? No wait… what would you do if some horrible human being insulted your child’s looks like this just to be mean on a kid’s second favorite holiday?
