Glee star Lea Michele broke her silence today following the sudden and tragic death of her boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith. Monteith was found dead July 13 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver.
Monteith was said to have died of a mixed toxicology combination of heroin and alcohol. Since Monteith’s passing, Lea Michele’s team has released statements on her behalf as she mourns her co-star and love.
Her rep’s two statements mirrored each other, having said : “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.”
Since the actor’s passing, Lea Michele has declined to comment on Cory’s death until now. Michele took to Twitter to respond to all of her friends, family, and fans, having tweeted:
“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart.”
The heartfelt statement was followed by a private photo of the two, looking happy as can be.
Before Monteith’s passing, Lea Michele spoke to Marie Claire about her beau, having said:
“[Cory] is the best person I know, he has made my life so incredible, and I am so thankful for him and not only to have him as a partner but also as a co-worker.”
“It is important to have someone who supports you and encourages you, someone who makes you feel that you are unstoppable, that you can do anything in the world because you have him.”
Before Lea Michele broke her silence, Glee creator Ryan Murphy had revealed in an interview with TV Line that she took control of the future of Glee, which will be doing a tribute episode in Monteith’s honor during their fifth season. Murphy also said that the two of them will be setting up foundations in Monteith’s honor.
Of Lea Michele’s strength following the death of boyfriend and co-star, Murphy said :
“Lea is obviously very grief-stricken but she’s also one of the strongest people I know. She wants people to be better and get back to work. So that’s what we’re going to do.”

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith played on-again-off-again loves on Glee for four years, and dated for a year-and-a-half before Monteith’s passing. It was said that the two were very happy and in love at the time of his death.
