The classic NES title DuckTales is getting re-released to consoles this summer.

DuckTales Remastered allows players to take control of Scrooge McDuck as he travels the globe in search of treasure. His adventures will take him to a number of exotic locales around the world. Gamers will be forced to contend with a number of obstacles along the way.

The re-release is currently slated to arrive for a number platforms later this summer. Xbox 360, Playstation 3 , and Wii U owners will be able to help the richest duck in the world add to his stockpile of cash.

Capcom reportedly made the announcement at the PAX East video game conference in Boston on Friday. The original game was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1989. A trailer for DuckTales Remastered has been embedded below.

Judging from the promotional clip, the gameplay hasn’t changed much since it debuted several decades ago. Scrooge McDuck still uses his cane as a weapon as he embarks on his quest to discover riches beyond his wildest dreams.

Since the game is a little dated by modern standards, the folks at Capcom intend to update the game so that it looks nice on huge high-definition television sets.

In addition to HD graphics, the title will sport new 3D backgrounds created by someone who worked on the animated series. The soundtrack will also be updated for its upcoming re-release.

“Through some miracle or planetary alignment, the little game Capcom and Disney fans thought they’d never seen again is being remastered and lovingly enhanced for the millions of us who can’t quite get their old NES cartridge from 1989 to play anymore,” Capcom said in a statement.

The original game found Scrooge McDuck visiting African mines, the Himalayas, Transylvania, and even the moon. A number of characters from Disney’s afternoon show make appearances in the game as well.
