For the last few years, Daniel Bryan was one of the most popular stars in the WWE. Even as a villain, the fans started to gravitate towards him, and when he went full face the “Yes” chant became one of the biggest in the WWE. Not many stars have gotten pops as loud as Daniel Bryan in many years. However, Fox Sports reports that Daniel Bryan has been suffering from clinical depression for much of the last decade.
When people appear in reality television shows, many things that people might not have realized comes to life. On the WWE-themed reality show Total Divas , one of those things is Daniel Bryan and his bouts of deep depression. His wife, Brie Bella, is the one who has brought those depression issues to light.
“Really our whole relationship I’ve been used to his depression. But definitely in the last two years I know ‘OK, it comes, it hits hard, but it only lasts for two days.’”
The depression hit Daniel Bryan hard when filming for Total Bellas started. There was already conflicts between Daniel Bryan and John Cena since the show takes place with both couples living under the same roof. However, the show also hit Daniel Bryan during the lowest moments of his life.

Daniel Bryan had already lost his dad a year before and when the cameras for Total Bellas started rolling he got the one phone call that crushed his dreams and sent him spiraling into deeper depression. Vince McMahon called him and said that he wanted him to show up on WWE Monday Night Raw the next Monday night and announce his retirement from professional wrestling.
Before that, Daniel Bryan had been told by doctors that he was clear to wrestle again and that he would be fine doing so. However, the WWE would not allow it and he was under contract to them. His career as an in-ring performer was ending and he suffered what he called a nervous breakdown, brought on by his clinical depression.

When Daniel Bryan got the call that the WWE wanted him to return to become the general manager for SmackDown Live , he wasn’t sure if he wanted to take the gig. However, he said that he was under contract, and if the WWE told him to show up then he would show up to do his job. Brie Bella said she didn’t know if it was a good idea considering his depression issues.
“I know you, I think it will break your heart more because you want to be in the ring, and for you to be outside of the ring and around it will be hard.”

Since his return, Daniel Bryan has slipped back into the role and has really excelled at it. However, there are times that it is clear that he really feels like something is missing. When The Miz cut that amazing promo about Daniel Bryan quitting on his fans, the look on his face showed that he really might believe that statement, leading to more bouts with depression and uncertainty.
However, while Daniel Bryan may suffer from clinical depression, he does have something to be happy and grateful for. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Brie Bella is pregnant with their first child and it has now been revealed that it will be a little girl. That is why Daniel Bryan feels that he has to remain retired from WWE in-ring action.
