AT&T Wireless will launch new Mobile Share plans on Thursday, Aug. 23 the company announced on Monday. The plans will allow AT&T to compete with Verizon Wireless which just started offering similar plans of its own.

The move by AT&T comes just as parents prepare to send their children off to college and back to school. The plans much like Verizon allow a single account holder account to share data, voice and text messaging between all of their chosen connected smartphones, tablets and laptops.

AT&T offers a cool new program called the Mobile Share Planner tool which can be found at www.att.com/mobileshare .

The Mobile Share program examines a users current usage across all of their devices and then suggests data plans that range from 1GB to 2GB along with their associated costs.

AT&T customer service reps can also help buyers pick the right data plan over the phone or at any AT&T retail store. Soon after launching customers will be able to log into their accounts and change their plans as they see fit.

With the new option AT&T Wireless customers can now choose between individual, family and session based plans along with the newly minted shared options.

Here’s the official AT&T ad spot for the new shared mobile plans:

Will you be taking advantage of the new AT&T Mobile Share program or sticking with your current plan with per device charges?
