Singer CeeLo Green has been cleared of sexual assault by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. CeeLo was accused of slipping a drug into a woman’s drink.
While CeeLo has been cleared of the sexual assault charge, a source tells TMZ that he will still be charged with the felony of furnishing ecstasy. It is likely that he will plead down to a misdemeanor.
The accuser claimed that she met CeeLo Green at a sushi bar in downtown Los Angeles more than a year ago. She later told police that he slipped ecstasy in her drink with her knowledge and the next thing she knew, she was naked in his bed.
Police later discovered that CeeLo and the woman had been dating for months and were already intimate with each other.
After being accused it was CeeLo who asked that the LAPD and District Attorney’s office fully investigate the claim.
The sexual assault charge is being rejected because of “insufficient evidence” according to the D.A.
Green will be charged with a single count of furnishing ecstasy and he could be arraigned by early Monday afternoon.
The female allegedly came forward with a recorded conversation between her and CeeLo, in the recording he admits to carrying the drug, but not to slipping anything into her drink. The district attorney’s office is viewing the recording as a confession to drug use.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office will not charge CeeLo with intent to harm after he shared his ecstasy with his accuser.
Typically a first offender with possession of such a small amount of narcotics in Los Angeles gets off with probation.
CeeLo Green and his reps are not commenting on the open case at this time.
Do you think a simple recorded conversation discussing drug use should be enough to find someone guilty of possession?
