Coldplay has a new album out, A Head Full of Dreams , and it features some pretty interesting celebrities on it. According to News Australia , those featured on the album include Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy , Noel Gallagher, Gwyneth Paltrow, and even President Obama. Chris Martin from Coldplay talked jokingly about how it was relatively easy to have President Obama singing “Amazing Grace” on the album.

“You have to go through various hoops and fiery tests. To be honest, it was very, very, easy. They were so sweet. We just asked his office, is there any chance we could sample this. They just wanted to check the rest of the track, I guess they just wanted to make sure we weren’t doing some sort of pro-socialist rally music or something. But they were very kind and let us use it… for $58 million. That’s a joke. All we had to do was buy him a small yacht.”

Martin also talks about how they are raring to get back to the stage, and that they finally feel that they can play a concert with all good stuff.

“I think we’re just about at the point in our career where we can get through a concert without playing anything s**t. Only now. If we put all our amazing songs together that covers about 20 minutes. Then fill the rest with just pretty good ones.”

When asked if they considered changing their album release date so they wouldn’t be overshadowed by Adele’s new album, Martin declined, but was very supportive of Adele.

“Nah man, let Adele shine and be great. I trust our music will get to who it’s supposed to get to. I don’t see it as a competition. All power to Adele. She’s wonderful. I’ve got to practice what I preach in terms of letting go of attachments like that, about caring about if you’re No. 1 or everyone loves it or hates it or whatever. As long as you’re true to yourself what more can you really do?”

Besides, Coldplay gets the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2016. That’s a big deal! The Indian Express reports that Coldplay will also be performing at the 2016 BRIT Awards at London’s O2 Arena. BRIT chairman Max Lousada said they are excited to welcome Coldplay to their stage.

“The BRITs are excited to welcome two of the biggest acts in the world right now to next year’s awards – Coldplay, who are undoubtedly one of our greatest music success stories.”

But it seems that there is another musical group, albeit unknown for the most part, that is getting recognized thanks to one of Coldplay’s songs. Mirror reports that the amateur local British band The Ambition recently jammed in the middle of Harrods music department , causally playing Coldplay’s “Clocks” in an impromptu performance.

While they were first concerned security might kick them out, everyone, including staff members, was clapping along and cheered the group when they were done. Sam Mealey, who plays guitar for the group, talked about the experience.

“I had my guitar, and my brother Max noticed the piano and he just sat down and started playing. We were all a bit nervous at first. We thought the security guards would come and move us on, but after we started everybody seemed to enjoy it… We even had staff members from Harrods clapping along.”

Amazing! The performance was caught on video.

The Ambition has been invited back to Harrods to perform later this year. It seems Coldplay songs are a boon to others, as well.
