Reports from Internet-Land are coming in on who will be John Cena’s next victim, and he is a fresh face who has dominated the WWE landscape ever since he came from NXT. It helps that he has a gorgeous representative, even if she promotes Vladimir Putin every single time she comes out , as reported by The Inquisitr .
According to a summarized article by eWrestlingNews , WWE is already shooting ideas for a future feud between John Cena and Rusev. On a business standpoint, this does not come as a surprise since WWE has been pushing the “Bavarian Brute” since his WWE main roster debut at WWE Royal Rumble 2014. The list of Rusev’s main roster accomplishments includes a dominant debut during the Royal Rumble in which it took four wrestlers to eliminate him, a win against Big E at WWE Payback 2014, and remaining undefeated in the WWE.
Rusevs excellent track record may come to a screeching halt if he were to face John Cena. Over the course of the past year or so, WWE has bumped down John Cena to the mid-card level, despite his main eventer presence. In some ways, it’s as if he’s become the new standard for wrestlers wanting to make it big in the WWE. Prior to him, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and even the Undertaker at times have been considered the WWE standard. John Cena, being the face of the WWE for about a decade, would make an excellent standard for the up-and-coming generation of wrestlers.
Unfortunately, the WWE doesn’t know how to put their up-and-coming talent over most of the time. Since the start of 2014, it is clear that Mr. McMahon, and the WWE creative behind him, are out of touch of what the fans want, in which Triple H gets most of the blame despite just presenting what Mr. McMahon wants. Bad WWE calls such as Batista winning the Royal Rumble, ending the Undertaker’s streak to Brock Lesnar, and their overall poor handling of CM Punk shows there needs to be a lot of work done to improve the WWE product.
Rant Sports has some of the best scenarios on making the John Cena versus Rusev angle work. WWE needs to make this feud happen later down the road, as in nowhere near the immediate future. Having Rusev lose to John Cena just after five months of building up will hurt them. It happened to Ryback, it is happening to Bray Wyatt, and if WWE doesn’t get their act together, it will happen to Rusev.
Also, WWE needs to allow John Cena to continue building his move list. For the longest time, John Cena’s “Five Moves of Doom” (Shoulder Tackle-Shoulder Tackle-Protobomb-Five Knuckle Shuffle-Attitude Adjustment) was a guaranteed victory for the Cenation Leader. The fact that John Cena threw the steel steps at Bray Wyatt at WWE Payback 2014 shows he is adding more to his arsenal. Also, Rusev needs time to build his repertoire too. The last thing WWE fans want to see is a boring match.
