Burt Reynolds is looking back on his life and career often, possibly due to penning his memoirs, and it seems there are some events in his life he’s revisiting with a less critical eye. One of those periods in Burt’s past is his long gone relationship with Sally Field, but his former flame isn’t sharing his fondness for the good old days. In fact, Field doesn’t seem to be able to muster up a kind word for Reynolds at all.
Sally Field Responds To Burt Reynolds’ Claim That She Was “The One That Got Away”
Well, yeah,” Sally responds to Burt’s claim .
These aren’t new romanticized ramblings from the Smokey and the Bandit star. Reynolds has said several times that Sally Field was the “love of his life” and that he regrets that their love hadn’t endured. Taking it a step further, Burt has professed an undying love for Field and publicly pleaded with Sally for some kind of contact, but Sally’s response has been anything other than encouraging.
“We don’t really talk to each other, no,” Field said, upon hearing of her old flame’s heartfelt confessions.
Burt has also added that the fault for the ending of their relationship lay solely with him, alluding to infidelity and saying that he made poor choices in the past. Burt and Sally met on the set of 1977’s Smokey and the Bandit and their romance lasted well into the 80s.
Reynolds married Loni Anderson ( WKRP in Cincinnati ) in 1988, who he later divorced in 1994.
In an earlier interview, following Burt Reynolds’ first comments about their romance, Sally provided a response that indicated her response might be less than civil. Although her response might be interpreted a number of ways, it seems Field has no love left for the Smokey and the Bandit actor.
“Any response I would have would belong to him,” she said.
Jessica Chastain Responds To Burt Reynolds And His Dead Bear Skin Nude Photo
Along with his protestations of love for Sally Field, Reynolds also revisited another moment in his life. This time, he reminisced about his nude photo shoot for Cosmopolitan , an image that was more recently recreated by Ryan Reynolds (no relation) for a Deadpool promo.
What Reynolds has said about the photo in interviews is entirely different from what the actor has said in his memoir. Publicly, Burt claims to having trouble recalling exactly what events transpired to convince him to pose nude. He says he assumes it was a game of chicken, a dare, or something similar, but again says that he can’t be sure.
An excerpt from Burt Reynolds’ autobiography, released in 2015, unveils a different story.
“Helen didn’t have to talk me into it,” reads the account. “I was flattered and intrigued. I wish I could say that I wanted to show my support for women’s rights, but I just thought it would be fun. I said yes before we came back on the air. (I may or may not have had several cocktails in the green room before the show.)”
Actress Jessica Chastain has responded to Burt’s statements , asserting that he should not be ashamed for his nudity, but for the set props. In particular, Chastain finds offense with the bear skin rug.
“Burt-regret the dead bear ur posing on, never the nudity. Im all for men gettn their kit off,” Jessica tweeted to Reynolds.
While many of Chastain’s fans commented in agreement with her statement, some questioned whether the rug had come from a real bear.
Currently, Sally Field can be seen in Hello, My Name is Doris , which is already showing in theaters.
Burt Reynolds is set to star in the Alyn Darnay action film, Shadow Fighter , which will see a June 28 theatrical release.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War , which stars Jessica Chastain alongside Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron, will premiere on April 4 in theaters.
