Justin Bieber made full use of his longstanding friendship with world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather last night, with a full-on gym training session.
“Me and the champ @FloydMayweather training tonight,” the 20-year-old superstar wrote, alongside the first of many snaps posted to his Shots account.
A flurry of videos and pics followed from others at the famed Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys, California, on Thursday, which has seen big name fighters such as David Tua, Sugar Shane Mosely, and Andre Berto pass through its doors.
For once, Justin’s shirtless state was warranted as he was put through his paces by the undefeated (47-0) Mayweather.
The Canadian wore three-quarter length white shorts with blue and red detail teamed with gray sneakers, completing his look in some shots with a white headband.
In one of the Instagram videos the gym posted, the caption reads,
“The Best doing mitts with Justin Bieber ,” referring to the boxing gloves worn by the duo.
And according Ten Goose’s boxing trainer and director Ricky Funez — who is known for his work using boxing to reach out to street gang members — the singer has stamina.
“After doing 18 rounds w/ Justin Bieber kid is talented very athletic,” Funez wrote next to a pic himself and the “Baby” singer.
Justin cut an impressively lithe, muscular figure as he threw hooks and jab at Mayweather in the ring.
It’s clear the singer’s two years of fitness training have built his strength and physique.
Justin has walked Mayweather out to the ring — and victory — at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena four times.
The most recent occasion was at “Money’s” rematch with Argentina’s Marcos Maidana on September 13 this year.
Floyd’s young daughter, Iyanna, is also a big fan of the Biebs.
Earlier this year, the 37-year-old champion responded to a reporter’s observation that his friendship with Bieber was somehow odd, by saying he considered the comment akin to “racial profiling.”
Wonder what the reporter would have made of Mayweather and the Biebs’ pedicure and massage spa session before the first Maidana fight in May?
The sports-loving star gets to grips with a jump rope at the gym.
Justin shared further pictures of himself getting into training with a speed bag.
At one point, the Champ laced up one of the Biebs’ boxing gloves.
The singer proudly captioned his Instagram snap, “@floydmayweather is my trainer.”
Mayweather also shared pics with Justin. In one, he revealed his nickname for his friend is “money bags.”
After working up a sweat in the ring, Justin went to dinner at the Playhouse in Hollywood.
He was joined by blast-from-the-past pal Young Money rapper Lil Twist as the two enjoyed a pasta meal.
The pair parted ways late last year, reportedly after urging from Justin’s manager Scooter Braun.
But now Twist appears to be back in the fold, based on his Instagram message.
“And Just like that… we’re bak. Leaving a great dinner with my lil brother… #Family,” the rapper wrote.
Meanwhile, Justin has plenty of mementos of an evidently fun boxing training session with Mayweather.
Could the singer be training for a future bout in the ring? Pay-per-views would set records.
