Warning: This article may contain spoilers for iZombie .

The first season of iZombie didn’t end on one of the best possible notes, as those who have seen the finale of iZombie know only too well. It seems everyone has a reason to either hate or mistrust Liv Moore (Rose McIver), with the possible exceptions of Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli) and Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin).

The show’s executive producers, Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, joined the iZombie panel at this year’s Comic Con and were only too eager to discuss the dark place in which Liv now finds herself, having alienated her family and most of her friends.

“Everyone does hate Liv right now,” said iZombie ‘s Thomas “She, as we start Season 2 — Major is still not quite over the fact that Liv did not let him in on her zombie secret. Of course, Peyton is still on her walkabout around Europe. And for reasons you all have probably have seen. she’s a bit on the outs with any surviving family members she has.”

Diane Ruggiero-Wright was more reserved in her judgement, but she did express some sympathy for Rose McIver’s iZombie character.

“I just feel bad for her.”

The iZombie Comic Con panel wasn’t able to share any video teasers for the new season, but they did provide a nostalgic look back at iZombie ‘s first season with a short iZombie recap video.

Throughout the first half of the iZombie summer hiatus, there had been speculation as to whether Aly Michalka would be available to reprise her role as Peyton , but now that it has been confirmed that Aly will return, iZombie fans were curious to know how the iZombie team would bring Peyton back into the fold. Michalka responded that the love and loyalty Peyton feels for Liv will certainly play a factor, Peyton will still have to find a way to deal with Liv’s zombie status. It may take a few iZombie episodes before the roommates are truly reconciled.

Rob Thomas added that the awkward partnership between Liv and Blaine (David Anders) will play a big role throughout the second season of iZombie, especially with the zombies finding themselves on the defensive and without a source of food.

“That’s going to be a big storyline in Season 2. Suddenly, the zombies who were on the offensive in Season 1 will be a bit on the defensive. It will make strange bedfellows of Blaine and Liv, who are both concerned about the dwindling zombies in Seattle.”

iZombie creator Rob Thomas said the new season would feature episodes that will have Liv eating “grumpy old man” brain, “frat boy” brain, and the third episode of iZombie ‘s second season will have Liv eating a “Real Housewife of Seattle” brain.

iZombie will return on October 6 on the CW network.
