2016 Presidential Election: Donald Trump Gains Huge Support After Calling For Death Penalty For All Cop Killers

The 2016 presidential election is in full swing and the campaign trail is ablaze by all of those trying to win over different states. Donald Trump has seen his approval rating in the 2016 presidential polls fluctuate up and down, but he may have just won over a lot of those that doubted him. Trump has said that during his presidency, he would call for the death penalty for all cop killers.

On Thursday night, Trump was speaking to a very powerful police officers’ union in New Hampshire, and the Republican Party frontrunner may have just widened his lead.

As reported by BreitBart , Trump pledged that if elected president, one of his very first actions would be to sign a particular executive order and put it in place. Needless to say, but his announcement drew a rousing round of applause.

“Anybody killing a policeman, a policewoman, a police officer, anybody killing a police officer: Death penalty is going to happen, okay? The police and the law enforcement in this country — I will never ever let them down, just remember that.”

It isn’t exactly known how this order would be carried out for all cases as there are 19 states in which the death penalty is banned. For states that have the death penalty in place, the killing of a police officer is already something often considered an “aggravating factor” in determining if a defendant is eligible for capital punishment or not.

Talking Points Memo went on to point out that Trump wants everyone to know that the police forces should be treated with respect. He also said that police forces should have and carry military-style equipment.

“We’ve got to let our police have the finest equipment and the finest training, and if we don’t, we’re making a tremendous mistake as a country.”

Trump spoke of President Barack Obama’s call to scale back police access to military-style weapons and tactical vehicles, and said that it was a “tremendous mistake.” This all came about in the wake of the riots and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.

On Thursday night, the New England Police Benevolent Association said that they endorsed Donald Trump and believe him to be “the candidate who best serves our membership.” It’s a membership that includes around 5,000 across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Trump said that the “job they (law enforcement) do and the job all of you in this room do is second to none.” Trump believes that is something that everyone in the country knows and their respect needs to be shown to them with better support and backing.

Negativity has come Donald Trump’s way over the past couple of months, and it has been extremely noticeable on many forms of social media. Still, his support has stayed ahead of all the other Republican candidates by double digits most of the time.

The USA Today poll tracker still had it that very same way as of Sunday evening. Trump was leading the pack with 29.8 percent of the vote, while his nearest opponent was Ted Cruz with 16.7 percent. Only two other candidates, Marco Rubio (13.8) and Ben Carson (13.2) are in double digits.

A lot can change in the 2016 presidential polls before the candidates for each party are chosen, but the others in the Republican Party have a lot of ground to make up.

Donald Trump may have a lot of opposition, but he certainly knows what to say and when to say it and who to say it all to. His speech on the death penalty being dealt to all convicted cop killers has won him a lot of support, and it may do nothing but widen his lead.
