More trouble is coming to town for the Original siblings with The Originals Season 3 begins. Following last season’s troubles with their parents, now it’s time to delve into their pasts a bit more – specifically, the first vampires they each sired, which brings up a whole new set of problems.
Newcomers to town when The Originals season 3 begins will include the first vampires Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah ever sired, and it is not going to be a happy reunion necessarily. After all, none of these vampires have been seen until now, and there has to be a good reason for that, right? And with talk of the first vampires ever sired comes some other questions as well, but fortunately, based on what executive producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly , it sounds like flashbacks, which are always helpful in answering some long-lingering questions, will do just that and address those early days for the Originals .
“We have a whole series of flashbacks over the first chapter that tell the story of the Originals’ first year as vampires before the word ‘vampire’ had even been assigned to them, and them learning what they were capable of, where they could fit in, how they could adopt the manners of a rich and cultured family even though they were tattered Vikings on the run. Within those flashbacks, we see the origin story of each of The Trinity, and we understand why The Trinity themselves might have reason to be a little pissed off at our hero family.”
The Trinity consists of those first sired vampires of Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah, and based on what Joseph Morgan told EW , they’re just going to mean another problem for the Original siblings – and not just from those three.
“There’s also this element that it’s not just the three of them but they’re in contact with a lot of the sire line for each of us so it’s like, ‘Hey, remember us? All those vampires that you turned who you’ve now abandoned? Well, guess what, we’re not too happy about that and here’s why.’”
The first vampire Klaus turned is Andrew Lees’ Lucien, “a smart, charming and wildly successful guy who prides himself on being two steps ahead of everyone,” and EW also posted a photo of the two together , and clearly it’s not going to be a reunion filled with hugs and smiles.
Something else to look forward to in the Originals Season 3 flashbacks is Claire Holt’s return as Rebekah , and executive producer Michael Narducci told E! News that they’re lucking out with her schedule to make that work – and they’re looking to bring her back for more and not just in flashbacks.
“Claire is phenomenal and we love to have her on the show. We’ve got a whole flashback storyline that she will participate in, and then we have some ideas on how we might see Rebekah again in present day in both bodies. Not at the same time!”
The Originals Season 3 premieres Thursday, October 8 at 9 p.m. on the CW.
