There are so many shows on Netflix, with more being added each month, that some get overlooked. Doctor Foster is one of these shows, but it is worth a try. Doctor Foster is a series that airs on BBC, and it is the kind of writing that doesn’t show up on television too often. There are no household names, at least not in the United States, but fans of a good suspense show won’t care.
Doctor Foster , like The Fall , was a popular series on BBC that was picked up by Netflix for American audiences, reported the Inquisitr . But though Doctor Foster isn’t a crime series, like The Fall , is still has all the suspense. The Fall has just wrapped up its run, and starred Gillian Anderson, formerly of The X Files . Though the level of violence in The Fall was high, Doctor Foster also has a somewhat dark tone.

The Age says that Doctor Foster is focused on a subject that is familiar to most humans and that is love and betrayal. The character of Dr. Foster is a woman, a wife, and a mother, who, as a doctor, is bright and professionally successful. That will be a plus and minus after she realizes that something in her life just isn’t right. Dr. Foster has decided to take her skills and put them to good use, which is a bit scary for those around her, and especially her husband. A line by William Congreve says it all.
“Heaven has no rage like love turned to hatred. Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.”

Dr. Gemma Foster is played by Suranne Jones, who is best described as playing the role as perfectly flawed. She is very busy, has a successful practice, and is prone to overthinking. This kicks into high gear when she finds a blonde hair on her husband’s scarf, which kicks off a new level of paranoia that derails everything in her life.
The reviewer for The Age says that the most mundane things start to have other meanings.
“The simplest of things are loaded with new, ominous meaning, as are the symbolic domestic detritus floating downstream in the opening credits – a neck tie, a tube of chapstick, a watch, a bra, a pair of scissors.”
Gemma Foster has developed a theory and has gathered some pretty good evidence, so she confronts her husband, who is all too happy to make her doubt herself, and her sanity. It’s like Beyonce said in Lemonade .
“What’s worse, looking jealous or crazy?”
But she keeps going, to prove it to herself, or to prove to her husband that she’s figured it all out, with no help from him. But will Dr. Foster have lost everything else in the process?
Yeah, Dr. Gemma Foster is kinda my hero. Drop the bomb & walk away slo-mo like “eat shit, weasels” #DoctorFoster #Netflix #BBC pic.twitter.com/TryI17rted

But NetflixLife says that Doctor Foster was so popular that Season 2 is said to be in the works. Season 2 of Doctor Foster has started shooting, and they believe it will air on BBC in 2017. Doctor Foster cleaned up in all of the British awards that deal with television, so it’s no surprise that there is so much interest in a new season.
If it will be a year before BBC gets to see the new season of Doctor Foster , Netflix might have to wait until the beginning of 2018.
