Mortal Kombat X may have a plethora of original killers to inject into their roster, but it doesn’t mean they can’t take some from other worlds as well. Announced, aptly, on Friday the 13th, Mortal Kombat X has traded in some ninja masked characters for an iconic hockey masked one.

Warner Bros. announced that Jason Voorhees would be joining the cast of Mortal Kombat X this spring via a trailer on Friday. While the trailer announces he’ll be part of the game, he won’t be in the base game it seems. The trailer also mentions that Jason will be a part of Mortal Kombat’s “Kombat Pack.” The DLC will feature “Klassic Kombatants and Iconic Guest Characters” according to its listing on Steam .

Jason Voorhees will join a cast of classic characters and new ones in the upcoming Mortal Kombat game. Characters such as Sub-Zero and Kano make return appearances, but with the evolution of the franchise, MKX fans will get the chance to play as the next generation of fighters. Jacquiline Briggs and Cassie Cage showcase the “changing of the guard” in Mortal Kombat as the children of prominent fighters Jax Briggs and Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage.

Jason has a history in video games, with Mortal Kombat not being the first in which he’s appeared. His history with the industry dates back to the Commodore 64 days when Friday the 13th released in 1985. A NES version of Friday the 13th then released in 1989, and was then re-released on mobile devices in 2006. This would mark the first time the camping killer was available in a fighting game and it will be interesting to see how he’s worked into the Mortal Kombat X roster.

However, those fans who play on the last-gen consoles will have a bit longer of a wait than the rest of the world. As reported by the Inquisitr , the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Mortal Kombat X have been delayed until June . NetherRealm is hardly the first developer to delay the release of the last-gen versions of their game, fellow Warner Bros. title Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor doing the same last year. In fact, this seems to be a trend with Warner Bros. as Dying Light , another game published by them, canceled their last-gen versions to focus on the current gen and PC platforms.

Mortal Kombat X will mark the next evolution in the classic fighting game series. Mortal Kombat X released on PC, Xbox One and PS4 April 14.
