Material Design Lite Will Help Websites Look Like Android Apps

Material Design Lite, or MDL, recently announced by Google, is going to make the process of redesigning the entire Internet a whole lot quicker and smoother. Very soon, you may find your favorite websites looking more like Android apps than what we’ve come to expect them to look like – all with the help of Material Design Lite, bringing the Material Design to the Web using CSS, Java, and HTML.

According to Google, MDL doesn’t care about frameworks you use and can work with almost any front-end solution commonly used by most web designers. It seems that they’ve given a lot of thought to making it as convenient to use as possible – the entire MDL’s code is no more than 27 Kb.

But even without MDL, it seems that “appification” is where the Web moves anyway. Such giants as Netflix redesign their websites to give them more app-like appearance, as reported by the Inquisitr.

“Netflix has finally decided to redesign its site , and it comes with many user-friendly upgrades. The streaming service, although more popular than ever, feels that they can take viewership satisfaction to a higher level with the new designs and features.”

It’s hard to say whether it is what the future of the entire Internet looks like or more of a passing fad, but right now, it seems that the industry is pretty serious about making Material Design and responsive web design its new standards.

“According to eConsultancy 62% of companies that designed a website specifically for mobile had increased sales. Whether you’ve already got a website or you’re planning your first web design, having a mobile friendly and responsive website should be at the top of your priorities.”

With the share of traffic coming from mobile devices growing constantly, it is only natural that the ways to cope with the problem attract greater and greater attention from both users and web designers. Today, any business that keeps a mobile-unfriendly website does, by all intents and purposes, commit a marketing suicide, for such a decision (or oversight) will put off thousands of clients from making business with the company in question.

In such a situation, an easy means of making your website more mobile-friendly is certain to attract a lot of attention, especially if disseminated by such a trustworthy source as Google. Material Design Lite, it seems, has a great future cut out for it.
