Victoria’s Secret released its digital edition of “The 12 Days of Christmas” on December 16, 2015, with seven of its 12 featured models carrying the vocals while emerging from balconied boudoirs to display stunning figures their next-to-nothing underwear failed to conceal. Sporting gilded wings, the high-priced “Angels” added their own altered lyrics to the classic Christmas carol intended for the holiday tribute.
According to Harper’s Bazaar , Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Lily Aldridge, and Taylor Hill took turns belting out lines of the song , each one with a swinging white door to pop out of and retreat behind. The fun-filled routine with much spritely gamboling punctuated by the occasional case of the giggles came across as both uplifting and decadent.
Bustle made special mention of Alessandra Ambrosio’s attempt at a high note aided by much gesticulation. Meanwhile, Jasmine Tookes was overcome by the silliness of it all, and her sung-out lyrics dissolved in giggles. Lily Aldridge lost her way winding down the video, and blurted out the following confession.
“I’m confused on where we are in the song!”
The Christmas countdown participants have much reason for elation. Being Victoria’s Secret Angels would represent the pinnacle of success for many of them, garnering lucrative incomes that endorsement deals could boost up to several millions of dollars. Here is what the seven featured singing angels look like individually at this stage of their careers.
Brazilian model and actress Alessandra Corine Ambrósio, 34, has earned the distinction of being chosen as Victoria’s Secret’s first spokesmodel for its “PINK” line. Standing 5 feet 9 and a half inches tall, Ambrosio has appeared in the movie Casino Royale, at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and is rumoured to have a net worth of $50 million.
Brazilian model and actress Adriana Lima, 34, who has endured as a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2000, was also a spokesmodel for Maybelline cosmetics from 2003 to 2009, and earned valuable face time in her Super Bowl and Kia Motors commercials. From all her efforts, the 5-foot-10-inch model has grown her net worth to $70 million. She is married to Marko Jaric, and they have two daughters, Valentina and Sienna.
South African model Candice Susan Swanepoel, 27, distinguished herself for her work with Victoria’s Secret. When she was assessed by Forbes in 2012, the magazine placed her at number 10 on its top-earning models list. The 5-foot-10-inch model’s net worth currently stands at $16 million.
Swedish model and current Victoria’s Secret Angel Elsa Anna Sofie Hosk has been in demand representing various leading brands that include Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Free People, Ungaro, H&M, Lilly Pulitzer, and Guess. Standing 5 feet, 9-and-a-half inches, she has an estimated net worth of $1.8 million.
American model Jasmine Tookes, 24, was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California where she shone as a gymnast who also dabbled in volleyball and softball before she became a model at about the age of 15. Her golden stand-out persona is attributed to her mixed ancestry of West Indian and Caucasian. Her discovery as a model at her fashion stylist mother’s showroom led 5-foot-9–inch Tookes to Victoria’s Secret.
American model Lily Maud Aldridge, 30, is a Victoria’s Secret Angel and a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model. She appeared as a rookie alongside Chrissy Teigen and Nina Agdal in 2014 for the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 50th anniversary issue. Worth $2 million, the 5-foot-9-inch model is married to Caleb Followill, and they have two children, Laura and Alan.
American model Taylor Marie Hill, 19, was discovered when she was 14 in a barn in Granby, Colorado, by an agent who got her featured in Intimissimi’s 2013 catalogue. Forever 21 picked her up for its print campaigns, and by 2014, she was modelling for H&M till she finally clinched the Victoria’s Secret Angel Fashion Show. In 2015, the 5-feet-9.2-inches model hosted a Victoria’s Secret PINK event and became a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
According to In Style, the Victoria’s Secret Angelsmade “The 12 Days of Christmas” their own by singing of “four fragrance sets,” “three red robes,” “two Angel bras,” and “a gift card for a shopping spree” in their countdown. Flubbing their spots during takes constituted the high points of the uniquely Victoria’s Secret version of the song.
