The Amazing Race cast brings together a pair of Baseball Wives and former NFL teammates vying along with nine other teams for the show’s $1 million prize.
The popular reality show is returning to CBS for its 23rd installment, featuring 11 teams competing for a $1 million prize in a race around the globe. The race this year will take contestants across nine countries on four continents, with the entire trip spanning more than 35,000 miles. Some of the highlights include a Formula One race in Abu Dhabi and paragliding in Iquique, Chile.
The race also brings back a popular twist from last year , the Double Express Pass. This allows the team that wins to first leg of the race to have on Express Pass for themselves and one to give to another team by the end of the race’s fifth leg.
The cast, announced Wednesday, has an interesting mix of friends, lovers, and quasi celebrities. Two of the most well-known are Nicole “Nicky” Getz and Kim DeJesus, who appear on the reality show Baseball Wives together. Getz is married to the Kansas City Royals’ Chris Getz and DeJesus is married to the David DeJesus of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Amazing Race cast also has two former NFL teammates, Chester Pitts II and Ephraim Salaam. Pitts is now a sports analyst for Texans Insider and Salaam is the co-host of Fox Sports Live .
The former teammates already know a little bit about winning together. Though they only played together one season, their 2009 Houston Texans team was the first in franchise history to finish with a winning record. But though the team ended up 9-7 that year, they failed to make the playoffs.
The rest of the Amazing Race cast contains a pair of lovers, a pair of exes, best friends, and two Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew girls.
