Kevin and Dreka Gates have certainly voiced their opinions concerning recent “Black Lives Matter” topics. But many are confused about their statements.
According to Kevin Gates’ Instagram, he took to the social media outlet in order to voice his opinion about the three officers who were shot in Baton Rouge.
In essence, Gates discussed how he doesn’t agree with “a bunch of n***as jumping around hooping and hollering.” Kevin mentions that it “ain’t right.”

“I’m not against black people, I’m not against white people,” says Gates. “I stand for what’s right.”
Kevin Gates continues as follows.
“But if we’re going to go to war, we need to go to war for what’s right… I stand for what’s right. Us talking and all that, that ain’t right. But how they stood up in Baton Rouge, I can salute that.”
Previously, Kevin Gates noted that he does not support the Black Lives Matter movement, simply because there’s so much black on black crime in America. According to Complex , Gates called the movement “bulls**t.”
Kevin Gates says that, when you stand for something, you have to fully invest in it. It can’t be something you halfway do or keep one-sided.
“We kill each other. But as soon as a white boy kill one of us, everybody going hooping and howling and all that stupid a** s**t.”

However, it’s possible that Kevin Gates wasn’t saying that shooting those officers was “right.” Rather, Gates was probably saying that Baton Rouge is united as one in fighting injustice — aside from shooting those officers.
That’s possibly what he’s saluting.
Dreka Gates also took to Instagram to discuss the past injustices she’s encountered as well.
She mentioned that police once had her handcuffed in 40 degree weather while she was five months pregnant. Too, she mentioned that they lacked probable cause.
In another post, Dreka Gates continues as follows.
“When I’m FOR something, I’m all the way in, 100% or nothing. You should try it. There’s nothing more rewarding than standing for yourself and what YOU believe in and serving God. Don’t be a follower.”
According to Complex , Gates’ wife mentions that she’s not “pro” anything. Rather, she — like her husband — only chooses to stand for what’s right in the world.
“What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong,” Dreka states.
This is regarding both police brutality as well as police assassinations — good officers as well as citizens uniting peacefully for a just cause.
In the aforementioned post, later within her caption, Dreka Gates also mentioned that she regrets posting about her injustice with corrupt officers because many people don’t understand what she meant by it.
“…You guys don’t truly understand what it means to REALLY STAND for something,” notes Gates’ wife.
The Gates family feels that many people are using the Black Lives Matter movement as an excuse to act unruly.
And, if black lives really did matter to the black community, they would stop killing each other and stand up for each other inside as well as outside of the black community — as the Gates family expresses.
Kevin Gates mentions as follows.
“N***ers hate on n***ers. N***ers steal from n***ers. N***ers kill n***ers. Come on, man. Help yo brother, don’t hurt yo brother.”
The same was presumed last year when riots began in Baltimore, Maryland, after the death of Freddie Gray.
Those within the community mentioned that people from outside the city were coming into downtown Baltimore and causing most of the havoc.
It was the same for Ferguson, Missouri, after the death of Mike Brown.
However, as Kevin Gates mentions, it’s different for Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
