Since the next installment of the franchise is getting ready to jump in front of the camera, director J.J. Abrams is trying to find a suitable selection of incredibly talented individuals to appear in the flick. Reports suggest that award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o could appear in the highly-anticipated Star Wars flick.

According to Vulture , the 12 Years a Slave star met up with Abrams shortly before she took home an Oscar for her performance in Steven McQueen’s acclaimed drama. However, Nyong’o has yet to officially weigh in on the matter as of this writing. This writer thinks she’s a fantastic choice for Episode VII .

So what role would Lupita play in the next Star Wars flick? The Hollywood Reporter theorizes that the actress could tackle the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s descendant , a character who is reportedly described as “non-Caucasian.” Since details about the movie are presently shrouded in secrecy, it’s unclear who Nyong’o will actually play if she ends up signing on.

Should Lupita Nyong’o decide to take a trip to a galaxy far, far away, the actress could appear alongside Girls star Adam Driver. Inquisitr previously reported that the actor could portray a Darth Vader-style character in the new film. Again, nothing official has come from Lucasfilm or Abrams as of this writing.

Fans of the actress have a few other projects to spend some time with while they’re waiting to hear more about her possible involvement with Star Wars . Not only did she recently appear in the Liam Neeson action-thriller Non-Stop , Lupita Nyong’o is also on the shortlist to star in The Whole Truth with Daniel Craig.

During her appearance on Kelly and Michael , Nyong’o admitted that she’s had a difficult time sleeping since taking home the Oscar for her role in 12 Years a Slave . However, Ripa assured the actress that people have nothing but love for her on-screen abilities.

“Gratitude is an emotion that is so hard to articulate,” Lupita said of her acceptance speech at the Academy Awards. “This is the thing I trained myself for. I’m just trying to allow myself to absorb it all.”
