It seemed the plan for the Miami Dolphins was to come into the draft and find some help for their defense. They were looking to shore up a toothless pass rush, and run defense that has lost Joey Porter, Jason Taylor, and Akin Ayodele. In the first round they traded down picked u and a second round pick from the San Diego Chargers and likely landed two starters in DT Jared Odrick from Penn State with the 28th pick, and LB Koa Misi with the 40th overall pick. They also picked up LB Tim Dobbins in the deal.
Their plan is to have Odrick start at RE and move 2009 RDE inside to play NT. They want Odrick and his huge 6-5, 304 lbs frame to develop into a constant disruptor on the outside. Misi will be allowed to develop for the year, as they Dolphins use him as a situational pass rusher. In all he Dolphins had eight picks in this draft, and they used four of them on Linebackers. Bill Parcells surely covets linebackers, and they hope they have found enough of an upgrade to their run defense.
In the third round they also added an OG in John Jerry of Ole Miss. With that being said here is a look at the initial grades for teh 2010 Dolphins draft class:
• Round One – A, Odrick is a force no doubt • Round Two – B+, Misi is well though of, and will be allowed to develop •Talent- A •Need- A, The Dolphins address their other needs in free agency and focus on defense in teh draft •Average- A-
