Here’s everything you need to know about the 2016 CMT Music Awards, from who’s presenting, performing, and hosting to everything you can expect from huge names like Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Pharrell Williams, Fifth Harmony, and Pitbull.
When is it?
The 2016 CMT Music Awards are set to air live on CMT from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Who’s hosting?
The big CMT award show will once again be hosted by Erin Andrews, who will be joined by last year’s presenter, former football player J.J. Watt.
“I’m thrilled to come back to Nashville to co-host the CMT Music Awards,” Andrews recently said in a statement about her CMT return. “I had so much fun last year, and I can’t wait to see what antics J.J. and I will get into together. Plus, there’s nothing better than seeing my favorite country artists get recognized for their great work.”
“Having presented at the CMT Awards last year, I got a first-hand look at the energy and excitement of the event and I am very excited to be involved in a much larger capacity this year as co-host,” Watt added of his CMT Awards co-hosting duties. “It makes for one heck of a night. I can’t wait to host the awards with Erin and be part of such a great night, honoring the biggest stars in country music.”
Who’s performing?
The 2016 CMT Awards will bring out anyone who’s anyone in the world of country music, with solo performances from Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett.
The big CMT award show will also bring powerhouse duets to the Bridgestone Arena stage: Blake Shelton will perform with the Oak Ridge Boys, Billy Ray Cyrus will team up with Cheap Trick, and Dierks Bentley will sing with Elle King.
Former American Idol judge and country superstar Keith Urban will also bring in some special guests, taking to the CMT Awards stage with both Brett Eldredge and Marren Morris.
But it’s not just country music’s biggest superstars who will be bringing down the house at the 2016 CMT Awards.
CMT Awards three-time nominee and country newcomer Cam is set to perform with the most popular girl band in the world right now, Fifth Harmony, while Pitbull will also make an appearance, performing with Leona Lewis and Cassadee Pope. Little Big Town will also be getting in on the pop music action, teaming up with Pharrell Williams to perform a track from their new album.
