A new batch of Star Wars: Episode VII rumors has recently hit the internet. Keeping track of everything may ultimately require the use of a spreadsheet.
Since production is currently slated to begin early next year, Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams are attempting to get all of their ducks in a row. The latest reports suggest Magic Mike star Alex Pettyfer and Solomon Kane alum Rachel Hurd-Wood are both being courted for the sequel.
According to Latino Review, Hurd-Wood is being eyed for the role of Princess Leia’s daughter. While she hasn’t officially landed the role just yet, the website is reporting that she’s the only one who has been approached thus far.
However, it’s unclear who Alex Pettyfer will portray in Star Wars: Episode VII . However, word on the street suggests the actor is being eyed for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son in the flick. It’s worth noting that nothing has been officially confirmed by anyone associated with the project.
As many folks learned earlier this week, it’s always best to take these internet rumors with a very big grain of salt. After the Bryan Cranston-Lex Luthor fiasco , approaching such reports with extreme skepticism is highly recommended.
Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood aren’t the only big names associated with Star Wars: Episode VII . Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers were previously rumored to be up for roles in the sequel.
Not every news story surrounding the project is rumor or speculation. Cinematographer Dan Mindel recently confirmed that Abrams intends to shoot the movie on 35mm film stock . This is certainly great news for fans who weren’t impressed with the look of George Lucas’ prequels.
Kathleen Kennedy also stated earlier this summer that Episode VII would use real world locations instead of green screens . It definitely sounds as though Lucasfilm is interested in recapturing the magic of the original trilogy.
“Looking at all the Star Wars movies and getting a feel for what even some of the early films did, combining real locations and special effects — that’s something we’re looking very seriously at. So we’re going to find some very cool locations that we’re going to use in support of Episode VII,” she said.
Are you looking forward to Star Wars: Episode VII ? What do you think about Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood possibly joining the cast?
