Brad Pitt’s stuntman was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder with a bayonet during the filming of his new film, Fury.
The 35-year-old was taken to the near-by John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, England, after the incident via air ambulance. At around midday he was struck with the weapon during rehearsal for the film in Pyrton, Oxfordshire.
Police have confirmed that they’re not treating the incident as a crime, and the film’s health and safety executives have been informed.
A spokeswoman for the film have confirmed that the stabbing occurred, admitting that the tragedy took place as two stuntmen filmed a scene on a private farm.
The representative stated, “There has been an accident between two professional stuntmen which happened in a rehearsed action sequence. It was an accident. It is very obviously very unfortunate. He left the set laughing and talking.”
Britain’s Oxfordshire countryside have been used as a double for Germany during the shooting of the film, and the residents of the local village, Shirburn, had previously been warned to hear “loud and unexpected noises.”
Sue Ford, who lives in Shirburn, confirmed, “I’ve heard gunfire which is quite startling. Very frightening. The tanks are incredibly noisy.”
Fury will be released on November 14, 2014, and the World War II film will be directed by End of Watch’s, David Ayer, and stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, and Michael Pena, who will feature alongside Pitt.
The drama is set in April 1945 and sees Pitt’s Wardaddy lead his troop of Allies behind enemy lines and into the midst of Nazi Germany, where they are outnumbered.
Last week, Pitt’s co-star, Shia LaBeouf , was allegedly kicked in the genitals after he attempted to film a young woman vomiting in the street in Leicester Square, London.
The woman who punched LaBeouf noted, “I only realised it was Shia after he’d been beaten up. If I’d know, I’d have let him film me as much as he liked. I have a massive crush on him.”
