Actor Zac Efron could be close to a drug relapse, according to his good friends.
The Neighbors 2 actor was fighting drug addiction just a few years ago and decided to clean his act up and check into rehab. Since then, he has been open about his struggles with alcoholism and substance abuse and has maintained a sober lifestyle. But it looks like things in his personal life could push him off the wagon.
Radar Online reports that Zac Efron is devastated over the divorce of his parents; so much so that his friends worry it could cause the 28-year-old to start using drugs again. “He seemed to have cleaned up his act but this could be devastating for him,” an alleged source told Radar .

David Efron, 56, and Starla Baskett, 67, separated in March of 2015, according to court documents. The following month, Starla filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” Zac is reportedly very close with his parents and apparently wishes that they could both set their differences aside. An insider claims, “Friends are very concerned he’ll fall off the wagon.”
There were numerous reports of Efron’s drug use turning into a serious issue while he was filming the first Neighbors . Zac allegedly didn’t turn up on set several times, and everyone on set seemed to know why. There were even reports of the actor destroying a Las Vegas hotel room with his friends to the tune of $50,000 in damages. Apparently, cocaine was involved.
According to Radar ‘s insiders, Zac Efron “has been following a rigorous fitness program and was looking forward to spending more time with his family. This breakup has made him angry and confused.”
If the drug relapse rumor is true, one thing that certainly won’t help the situation are the reports that Efron broke up with model and entrepreneur Sami Miro. The two first started dating in September of 2014, after meeting on the set of a film.

If the two have broken up, it would make sense, considering the recent headlines about Zac Efron and Tinder. Hilary Duff is one celebrity in particular who has famously used and supported the dating app, and now it looks like the app is getting a ringing endorsement from Efron. But apparently, he got no love .
“Amazingly, when I signed up for Tinder, nobody swiped me!” the actor explained to British newspaper The Times . “They thought [my profile] was fake.”
As it turns out, Efron actually created a profile on the popular dating app but kept getting left swipes. Naturally, people must have assumed that his profile was fake as soon as they saw his picture and his name. “Why would Zac Efron be using Tinder?” many would think to themselves. Well, he is single after all. And it looks like this is one circumstance where being a well-known celebrity can be a drawback.

“Dating is something I’ll never be able to do,” the actor said. When it comes to things like Tinder, he seems to have a point. “One way or another I’ve impacted that person’s life and they’ll soon realize it. A date has to be very long to dispel whatever people think of me,” Efron added .
As far as the drug relapse rumors, Zac Efron or someone in his camp will have to come forward with a legit confirmation.
Zac Efron was recently busy filming the big-screen adaptation of the television series, Baywatch , with Dwayne Johnson, which will hit theaters May 19, 2017. The actor will soon begin production on The Greatest Showman on Earth , a biopic about American showman P.T. Barnum, which also stars Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, and Michelle Williams.
