E3 2013: Xbox One And PS4 Look Almost Identical

With E3 2013 well and truly under way, it appears neither Sony or Microsoft have won the console war.

When Microsoft revealed their Xbox One in May, Sony hadn’t got much to show for their console prototype, with lots of gamers feeling that they had badly planned their announcement when compared to Microsoft.

However, E3 2013 witnessed Sony finally delivering a physical model of their upcoming new console.

Although the PS4 looks impressive, if you look at its picture alongside the Xbox One, you’d be hard pushed to know which one was which.

From their overall slim, sleek black box designs to the black gloss/black matte finish, both consoles appear to be identical to one another .

No doubt Xbox fans, and the Xbox officials themselves, sat opened mouthed in shock at Sony’s big reveal.

After all, the two companies are always trying to outdo each other so that they come out on top of the battle for who makes the best consoles.

However, this fight might be tougher than previous rounds because both the Xbox One and PS4 are so alike, and not just in design.

Both Microsoft and Sony have updated their interactive gameplay, with both brands revealing their all new black-bar cameras, the Kinect and the Eye.

Moreover, both consoles have Blu-ray players built it, and will use the cloud for gaming.

Yet the most obvious similarity between the two consoles appears to be their lack of interest for non-gamers.

Although it’s only normally die hard gamers that keep up to date with E3, the whole reason why Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony introduced interactive devices was so that more mainstream players could enjoy what was on offer.

However, it only feels like Nintendo is keeping to their mainstream tactics, while Sony and Microsoft appear to be mimicking each other.

There are, however, some differences between the Xbox One and PS4, most notably the prices – the Xbox One will go on sale for $499 while the PS4 will cost $399.

In addition to this, there is also Sony and Microsoft’s varied opinions on used games .

Overall, despite the lack of dramatic difference between the Xbox One and the PS4, all gamers will have their preference, while newcomers will simply weigh up the pros and cons of both before making a decision.

Either way, one thing’s for sure, the Xbox One and PS4 seem to be identical opposites.
