Drake will be saying goodbye to his number one reign this week on the U.K’s Official Singles Charts after 15 weeks, and it’s all thanks to the success of Major Lazer’s new collaborative “Cold Water” single with Justin Bieber and MØ.
“Cold Water” now has taken an early lead on the U.K.’s official trending chart after its premiere last Friday (July 22) and is set to to debut at No. 1 on the U.K.’s official singles chart on Friday.
Drake’s “One Dance” smash, which features Wizkid and Kyla, has sat atop the U.K’s Official singles chart since April 15, ten days after it was released in the U.K. as the second single from the Toronto rapper’s fourth album Views .

However, with the No. 1 debut of Bieber, Major Lazer and Mo’s “Cold Water” in the Top 100 Official Singles Chart Update , “One Dance” is set to fall from the top and miss out on tying the record for the most consecutive weeks at No. 1, held by Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” which logged 16 weeks at the top of singles chart in 1991.
Unless Drake’s “One Dance” receives an unprecedented influx of sales and streams over the next few days, “Cold Water” is headed for the No. 1 position this week. “One Dance” has slipped to No. 5, putting it behind Jonas Blue’s “Perfect Strangers” (2), Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” (3) and Calum Scott’s “Dancing On My Own” (4).

During an interview with BBC Radio 1 on Monday, Diplo mused on the shift in perceptions from some music lovers towards Bieber after his acclaimed Purpose album was released last November.
Diplo explained, “At the end of the day, if you’re making great music people are gonna pay attention to the music more than your fanbase or… whatever, they’re just gonna love the music for what it is I think he proved that with the Purpose album.”
