‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’: Joss Whedon Discusses The Villain’s Powers

Since everyone wants to know what Joss Whedon is doing with The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the director recently dished on how he plans to tackle the film’s iconic villain.

Instead of giving Ultron a slew of unstoppable powers to work with, Whedon revealed that he intends to scale back the character’s infinite destructibility. Instead, the filmmaker revealed that he wants to spend some time on the robot’s pain and suffering.

Joss Whedon recently told Entertainment Weekly that he plans to make some necessary adjustments to the villain’s powers in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Comic book purists probably shouldn’t worry too much about the changes. The guy seems to have the robot’s best interest at heart.

“I knew right away what I wanted to do with [Ultron]. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff,” the director explained to the publication.

He added, “So we’ll take away some of [his] powers, because at some point everybody [has] magic [powers], and I already have someone who’s a witch.”

The witch in question is Wanda Maximoff, otherwise known as the Scarlet Witch. The Inquisitr previously reported that Oldboy star Elizabeth Olsen has been approached to tackle the role in The Avengers sequel. The part was originally offered to Byzantium’s Saoirse Ronan.

Olsen isn’t the only recent addition to the Avengers 2 cast. Kick-Ass 2 star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been tapped to portray Quicksilver in the highly-anticipated follow-up. If everything goes according to Whedon and Marvel’s master plan, the film should arrive in theaters in 2015.

Are you looking forward to catching Avengers: Age of Ultron in theaters? What do you think about Joss Whedon making some changes to the villain’s powers in the sequel?
